Gleanings from Today for Tomorrow: 03.02.18

This is what I gleaned on my journey today. Look at what God calls you to and leave the rest for someone else to enjoy.  Peace be with you.

Why Baptize Your Child?…This seems like a non-question for most Lutherans and 90% of Christians who do baptize infants and children. However, for those from other Christian traditions it is a question asked. In this little brochure you can find some basic answers to this question.

Eighth Day Theology…Dr. Art Just of Concordia Theological Seminary, Fort Wayne, Indiana is interviewed in this podcast about the Sabbath Day and brings out some incredible insights on eighth day, the day of resurrection. If you’ve ever talked with a Seventh-Day Adventist about the Sabbath, here are some great points on why Christians worship on Sunday (Gospel) rather than Saturday (Law).

The Life of Martin Luther – Session 7…In this Bible study we consider Luther’s work of reform and what guided the changes he made.

Legacy Coffee Hour…tomorrow at 10 am at Legacy. Our ladies are hosting.

2018 Service Project Announced! … LCMC – the body we belong to – will be teaming up with Meals from the Heartland in 2018 to help feed the hungry as our service project. We hope to raise $100,000 and assemble a total of 400,000 meals. Personal donations can be made through our congregation and Council may designate some of the $2,000 budgeted for LCMC.

LCMC Annual Gathering: “Growing Up” is the theme of our next Annual Gathering, held October 7-10 in Des Moines, IA. Pastor Tim or another one of our leaders will be attending this event. If you’re interested in going contact the office.

Three Days of Prayer 2019…Are you interested in being part of such an event at Trinity ELC. The next LCMC sponsored annual Three Days of Prayer will take place January 1-3, 2019. Resources such as sample brochures submitted by other LCMC congregations can be found here. Do you think our Elder’s and Prayer Team should facilitate such an event? Let us know.

Camp Sponsorship…Trinity ELC is sponsoring two $250 camp sponsorships to Mulhurst Bible Camp (1) and Wilderness Ranch (1). If you know of someone who might benefit from one of these please let us know or them contact the office. Also, if you would like to donate to make these camperships full sponsorship please designate a donation through Trinity ELC.

Easter Food Hamper...Trinity ELC is putting together an Easter Food Hamper for a family in need. Please watch for details on how you can participate.

Caring Connector…We’re looking for one or two people to visit two of our members up at Northcott Care Centre. Both individuals have some disabilities, but would benefit from someone who might be present with them on a somewhat regular basis. We would especially encourage those who took the Christian caregiving course to consider this opportunity or someone with the gifts of servanthood or mercy. More information and support can be obtained through Pastor Tim.

Prayer Request…Pray for Shawn C. who is in Ponoka hospital battling the flu. Also continue to pray for Margaret E. as she continues her recovery at home and is progressing well.
