Gleanings from Today for Tomorrow: 03.09.18

This is what I gleaned on my journey today. Look at what God calls you to and leave the rest for someone else to enjoy.  Peace be with you.

Reminders for Tomorrow:

  • Ladies Bible Study – 10:30 am

Updates and Prayers….Shawn C. seems to be on the mend. Please pray for Sharon S. as she deals with health issues. Heavenly Father, grant wisdom to the doctor as Sharon undergoes tests to determine what problems she is facing. In Christ’s name we pray. Amen.

Another Prayer RequestDear Heavenly Father, we ask for physical and spiritual healing for Lester S. We ask that you grant him your mercy and perseverance, blanket him and his family with your strength and peace now and especially in the days ahead. We thank you Jesus and we give you the glory for his healing.

The Life of Martin Luther Bible Study…This is part seven of this study looking at the last years of Luther’s life. You can view and participate in it here.

Another Prayer Request…Please pray for wisdom and discernment as the Hilda W.’s family prepare for changes.

Is it biblical to ask Jesus into your heart?…I’ve heard people suggest that this is how people access salvation. The following article does a reasonable job of debunking this. I would add that a person who is at the tipping point of faith is there because s/he has already heard the Gospel and the Holy Spirit has entered his/her life to create a faith response of repentance and a desire to follow Jesus. What is now needed is teaching about what God has done, not a human attempt at participating in the act of salvation through Christ alone.
