From Pastor Tim

Pastor Tim_PhotoAnother light week of activity for our Christian community, but we are encouraged to look for ways to share and be the good news of Christ and his kingdom to the people we encounter every day.

Many of our our youth are leading us in this venture as they share their faith with friends and seek God and his kingdom with their lives. I celebrate their weekly coming together as a small group for support and reflection on God’s Word. I am encouraged by one young man who is heading off to Bible school this fall and another who has been asking “What is God’s will for my life?”

I’ve been encouraging many of you to be intentional about your witness. Plan to do something and work the plan. Who are you already in touch with and what good news is God leading you to offer these people? One person I know has gotten to know a Muslim family and is talking about God with them. Without even knowing it, you may already be “cycling.”

I want to extend a prayer of thanks to the staff of the Ponoka Hospital emergency department. Today I had an allergic reaction and found myself there. I thank God for Dr. Joe, Linda A., Monica B., Danielle and all the other support staff for getting me back on my feet. You were God’s good news of healing in my life!

This coming Sunday we will be blessing the marriage of George and Kelly Jason as part of our regular worship service and considering how our marriages can be a blessing of God’s good news for people who are single, widowed, divorced or living in a broken relationship.

I will also be holding two additional worship services at Northcott on Thursday at 4 pm and Rimoka at 2:30 pm on Sunday. In both places I could use some assistance in leading these people in worship (Northcott -page turners and Rimoka – communion assistants).

I will be heading away on vacation next week, but Pastor Ted Hill will be your contact for any emergencies. On Sunday, August 4 at 10:30 Pastor Marty Tuer, chaplain at the Centennial Centre will preach and preside over worship. On Sunday, August 11 we will not have a service at our facility, but are invited to join other Christians in worship at the annual community worship service.

May God bless your witness this week as you go out to be a sign, foretaste and instrument of Christ and his kingdom.
