On Tuesday the Busy Mom’s met in our facility. What a wonderful group filled with so much life (babies and young children). On the same day our staff met for its biweekly connection. In the afternoon Bethany started a mentorship program at the High School. What an excellent opportunity for relationship building.
Tuesday night was Council meeting. It was a long meeting with much discussion around issues that Council hasn’t normally been consulted about: baptism, membership, confirmation. One Council member referred to Pastor Tim as the “new broom.” We hope that he doesn’t just create irritating dust, but that through his leadership the light of Christ will shine even brighter in our midst.
Council, following a recommendation by a twelve person study, endorsed our involvement in a process called Natural Church Development. Natural Church Development (NCD) is a powerful process for assessing the health strengths and weaknesses of our church, then developing and implementing an action plan for improving church health by removing barriers to growth. The process will begin with a 30 person survey at the end of May. The NCD Support Team for our congregation will be Pastor Tim, Kent Kramer, Grant Jorgenson, Ronalie Campbell and May Hollman.
Wednesday had the Men’s Bible study meeting to continue their journey through the Book of Revelation. Also meeting that day was the Senior High youth study group and a Council sub-committee reworking our new constitution. In addition, Pastor Tim met with two people who will be received as members of our congregation on May 5.
Today, confirmation students will gather. The second year students are looking at the Lord’s Supper with Pastor Tim. Following confirmation, parents will be gathering to figure out a date for the affirmation of baptism service.
Saturday is the Prayer Seminar at First Baptist Church beginning at 8:30 am and running till 4 pm (lunch included). If you are interested, there is still time to register. Please phone.
Sunday we gather for worship at 10:30 am and Sunday school. Pastor Tim is back and will be preaching on the topic: “Your Dream Church.” Read Ephesians 3:14-21 in preparation.
